A new dawn… the birth of the Messiah

The star in the sky

IN FOCUS: Matthew  Chapters 1, 2

How ready are we to receive what we look up for?

Who are you?

Do you know your fear?

Why do you do what you do?

The world had  long been waiting for the coming of Christ Jesus ‘“Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” ( Matthew 11:3) as the Baptist John wanted to confirm. His birth was however perceived as untimely by the then generation. A thorn in the flesh of King Herod; a detraction to the Kingdom of Herod; a threat to  Josephs marriage plan; a surprise to Mary and an awesome ‘rapture’ to the existing system.

We long so much for things which when they arrive, we even are unable to recognize and appreciate what we have yearned for. To every great purpose, there is a great opposition. Herod the King could not believe his ‘reign’ must come to an end. But was Jesus Christ really coming to take over from Herod?

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
We are quick to act on facts and reasons without reasoning about the reasons and so we attract problems for ourselves. Why do you do  what you do? What fear drives your thought?

We must wait for the true direction of God as we take our daily steps. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ (Matthew 6:13).  We are doomed to perish when we lean on our own understanding without waiting upon the Lord. God Almighty who showed Joseph the way from the destruction of Herold is still at work. ”You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
May we wait upon God in all that we do.
