IN FOCUS   Matthew 2: 11
‘’Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

think about it:

  • how do you protect the weak?
  • in what ways do you encourage purposeful life?
  • who are you mentoring?
  • how do you act to prevent a ‘Herod’ against your mentee?
  • who are you?

The butterfly, loved by all and unique in all sense is an insect to note. A truism of the Africans says that ‘it is the ugly caterpillar that grows to become a beautiful butterfly’. The chronicle of history tells how Coca Cola born in 1886, was sold for a peanut of cash and now, considering its globalized acceptance by consumers, stands out as one of the most unique brand and an icon on the international market.
Understanding the essence of beginning and beginners is a value cherished by few. You may never know when the beginner shall be the champion. It takes foresight therefore, to invest in the beginner. The three men were prompt to respond to their call. They presented the most precious gifts to the beginner (Jesus Christ), whose known future was under serious threat from Herod. Gold, to say He is precious; myrrh to adore His Kingship and frankincense to give fragrance to His birth.
The responsibility to take note of, accept to assist, nurture and groom beginners of purposeful life remains neglected by many people. We wait to see the beginner as a champion before we build the rapport. They wait, they lament within them in silence, they stretch their hands for help, but to no avail. Think of it; that beginner of a purposeful life awaits your encouragement, support to lean on and your gift to dare. Neglect not the call. They saw His star in the sky. His star, yes his star! Just a fiction, but the reality would come. He was and He is the Messiah. Notwithstanding the fiction and the threats from King Herod, they presented their gift. They had invested in His life, and now, they are reckoned in the Holy book, the Bible. Find that beginner around you. Encourage and nurture. It is your utmost ability to responds to. Now or never!

Your ward, your student, that boy, that girl needs your responds to his or her latent call. You must answer now!

Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o’er the erring one,
Lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.

Rescue the perishing,
Care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.

Though they are slighting Him,
Still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly,
Plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.

Down in the human heart,
Crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart,
Wakened by kindness,
Chords that are broken will vibrate once more.

Rescue the perishing,
Duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way,
Patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand’rer a Savior has died.
