STRIVING THROUGH ADVERSITY
IN FOCUS: MATTHEW 4
How do you feel when an educational examination approaches?
How were you feeling when you had to take an important academic examination?
Why do we meet troubles?
How do you accept challenges in life?
Who offends you most?
What troubles you most?
The little child crawling is faced with the problem of walking. The adolescent yearns to be an adult. The married seeks for the reasons behind the reason. The business man is bombarded with making the figures work for growth. The government thinks of the best way out. The student is pondering over becoming an excellent and exceptional in class. Christopher Columbus had to face great oppositions for the sake of purposefulness. Where on earth can’t we find challenges?
”Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Trials and temptations; a necessary evil for man under the sun. They that overcome them become over comers and they that fail to overcome them become failures of life. The fighter seeks for the most weakest point of his opponent so as to knock him down. Don’t expect trials and temptations to negotiate good terms with you.
The Lord Jesus Christ had His blow at His most salient point. After 40 days and nights of fasting, one can imagine how hungry He was and that was where his first blow from the tempter came from, but, He was quick to block. ‘Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’
A reason for trails and temptations is not only to get you to face trials and temptations, but also to prove how you can overcome trials and temptations.
Trials and temptations would seem to be getting you down but, you must prove that you are an over comer. The apostle Paul said ‘ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ Philippians 4: 13. Remember the temptations in the garden of Eden.
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
