TIME AND TIMING

BIBLE 4

WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME

  IN FOCUS:    GENESIS  7 AND 8

THINK ABOUT IT:

Will you give a half cooked food which can harm your ward to him just because he is crying of hunger?

How do we lead God in what we do?

How do we wait for the right time and timing?

Noah had been favored. He had had the uncommon mercy of God. He had rightfully followed the instruction God gave to him. The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation

Abraham asked for a sign to act. But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?”.

When it was time for Isaac to get married, the messengers asked for a sign from God ”O Lord, God of my master, Abraham,” he prayed. “Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham. 13 See, I am standing here beside this spring, and the young women of the town are coming out to draw water. 14 This is my request. I will ask one of them, ‘Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says, ‘Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’—let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.”

Noah sent out a raven to check the level of the water. He also sent a dove after seven days but the dove did not return. God however knew the right time to instruct Noah to come out of the Ark. After Noah’ s effort to ascertain the right timing to come out, God came inThen God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”

Sometimes in life, we do take certain decisions without seeking for the guidance of God. Is the creation greater than the Creator? Ney!

We ought to wait upon the Lord.  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

HYMN:

Take time to behold Him,
Speak oft with Thy Lord,
Abide in Him always,
And feed on His Word.
Wait thou in His presence,
Submissive and meek,
Forgetting in nothing
His blessing to seek.

Take time to behold Him,
The world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus
Like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends, in thy conduct,
His likeness shall see.

Take time to behold Him,
Let Him be thy guide;
And run not before Him
Whatever betide;
In joy or in sorrow
Still follow thy Lord,
And, looking to Jesus,
Still trust in His Word.

Take time to behold Him,
Be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each temper
Beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit
To fountains of love,
Thou then shalt be fitted
His mercy to prove

God is still capable of showing us the sign to do what we have to do
