ABRAHAM AND LOT: choices

BIBLE 4

GENESIS 13   IN FOCUS

THINK ABOUT IT:

What pleases your eyes?

Why do you choose what you choose every day?

What influences your choice?

Who decides for us?

A young man did yearn so well to own a brand new model car which provides more comfort and safety. He had money and chose to buy the car but unfortunately the car led to his death through a lorry accident.

A young lady had eagerly been waiting for an opportunity to work in the bank. Her desire was met as she had a job offer with great salary and incentives but hardly did she had time for herself. One day after work, she collapsed whilst walking towards her car. When she came to consciousness, she resigned from the long yearned for work.

Abraham had left home with Lot. They had both been successful in possession. Both of them had been blessed in livestock. An increase in shared wealth results in an increase in shared contentions. There was the need for Abraham to part company with Lot. There exist a great lesson of humility here for us to learn. Though Abraham was older than Lot, he never imposed his wish on lot but, in humility, he suggested and gave Lot the opportunity to choose that which he (Lot) prefers.

It may never matter how we may seem to be at the losing side. God will always be with us if we abide in Him

‘’The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Look around from where you are, to north and south, to east and west. All the land that you see I will give to and your offspring forever…

The land Lot chose was however with issues; Sodom and Gomorrah region.

How well do we wait on the Lord?

‘for they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength,

WHAT JESUS SAID: ‘I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
