The power of mockery and familiarity

prayer 2

Why do you mock others?

How do you relate with others?

How do you regard authority?

How do you hurt others?

Do you know what mockery can do?

Do you understand familiarity?

Children cannot stand it, they get intense angry at it; mockery. It creates a wide gap between couples; mockery. It denies us of what we can get in life; mockery. Friendships fall apart when it appears; mockery.  Mockery is dangerous. Mockery is evil.

They questioned what seemed wrong with him and they mocked at him but he was powerful enough to exhibit power. ‘’Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.…’ 2 Kings 2:23.  When Jesus began His work, they brought familiarity to His doorstep ‘Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?‘  Matthew 13:55

Mockery is a great evil that can trigger great consequences. When people open certain doors of friendship to us, we ought to know how to cherish them and not to abuse them instead.

Hagar had found favor in the sight of her Mistress. A moment of laughter had come for Sarah but with an ‘opposition’, Hagar. The very person through whom Hagar had a child was facing mockery and familiarity from Hagar.

Sometimes in life, the very people we may offer assistance to, may be the very people who may become the thick walls of barrier to our happiness.

We must listen to God in all things. Abraham hearkened to Gods words for a solution.

PONDER:   a little act of mockery and familiarity can cause a great harm. Stay careful!!!
