GENESIS 26 IN FOCUS
Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also;
THINK ABOUT IT:
Why do we face problems?
why do people obstruct us from our glory?
How do you act when you face opposition?
can we ever end misunderstanding?
We live in a world full of envy. We live in a world full of temptations. We live in a world full of quarrels. We live in a world in which we offend and we are offended . We live in a world full of problems. What is the panacea to the world’s numerous hurdles?
Abraham and his own nephew, Lot, had misunderstanding but least did he (Abraham) became a problem. Abraham was a solution to Lot’s problem.
8 So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.” Genesis 13:8-10
‘ Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there’ but there came misunderstanding between him and the herders of Gerar and here also Isaac was a solution.
Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. 20 But the herders of Gerar quarreled with those of Isaac and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek,[c] because they disputed with him. 21 Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.[d] 22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth,[e] saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”
Jesus Christ said ‘But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40“If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. 41“Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two…’
Be a solution regardless of the problem. We live in a world of problems and we (Christians) ought to be solutions to the worlds problem. If we therefore become problems, then what is our essence?
Whenever you are greater than anyone in any small way, he is bound to be your obstacle. We cannot be free from the numerous problems the world presents but where there is a problem, there we must be the solution.
A great identity of a Christian is his ability to let go of very tempting situations. A christian is a solution and never a problem.
In marriage, in relationships of all forms, in business, in academics, in speech, in thought and in acts, we shall surely meet problems but, the big question is, will you be a problem or a solution?
PONDER: Abraham and Isaac did it, it is our turn; when you see a problem, you are a solution
