GENESIS  27    IN  FOCUS

Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father say to your brother Esau, ‘Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat, so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the Lord before I die.’ Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you: Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so I can prepare some tasty food for your father, just the way he likes it. 10 Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may give you his blessing before he dies.”

THINK ABOUT IT

Do you trust someone?

Why do you trust people?

How do you attract fatherly blessings?

How do we attract curses?

Why do we see disintegration in the house?

Nations have been crippled by so many woes. Homes are suffering from disintegration. Fathers have their choices and mothers have those they love. ‘If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand’ as Jesus Christ said. The habit of unforgiving live in the heart of so many people. The root of such unforgiving may be traced to the home. Nations are suffering today because people have transferred unforgiving habit from the home stage  to the national arena.

Adam  was betrayed by Eve. Eve had somewhat inadvertently conspired with the serpent to do the abominable. Judas conspired with opposing groups to betray Jesus Christ. Rebekah conspired with her son to do what is not good; to betray one of her own, Esau. Choices! Father chooses Esau for he is the elderly and deserves a fatherly blessing and mother goes for Jacob.

It is amazing to see how some people are ever ready to risk their all to do what is not good. The Bible says: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. We ought to be extremely careful with our choices within this short moment of our lives on earth.

A day is coming when parents shall account for their children’s life. A day is coming when business mangers shall account for all their acts. A day is coming when conspirators shall be revealed. A day is coming when all false acts shall come to light. A day is coming when we shall all account for our words, thought and deeds. What will be your dignity on that day? What shall be said of you on that day?

PONDER: what are you doing in your secrecy?

REMEMBER: God is watching

HYMN:

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of his resurrection share;
When his chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all his wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
