It is for good!

prayer

GENESIS    45    IN      FOCUS

And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.

THINK ABOUT IT

Who is causing your unhappiness today?

Why do you harbor bitterness ?

What situation are you going through?

Do you know what exactly tomorrow shall present?

Why do we meet challenges in life?

It is for good. Yes, it is for good! Whatever we have been through was for good, whatever we are going through is for good and whatever we are yet to go through shall be  for good!

Crosby was visiting her friend Phoebe Knapp as the Knapp home was having a large pipe organ installed. The organ was incomplete, so Mrs. Knapp, using the piano, played a new melody she had just composed. When Knapp asked Crosby, “What do you think the tune says?”, Crosby replied, “Blessed assurance; Jesus is mine.” source..  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blessed_Assurance. That visit was for good. Yes, it was for good because out of that visit do we have the famous hymn blessed assurance. Whatever you are facing is for good!

It was for good that the well armed men could not kill Goliath; Yes, so that the unarmed young boy David could make history with his catapult. It was for good that Daniel had some men reporting him to the King for him to face the lions; Yes, so that the story would be great and the name of God would be glorified! It was for good that Jesus Christ was betrayed; Yes, so that He could accomplish the task! It was for good that the four lepers faced hunger. Yes, so that God  could use them to bring joy to the people. ”for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, … 2 kings 7

It is amazing to  note what  so  many people have been able to do and the distinctive footprints they  have been able to leave which were as a result of the discomforts they met in their lifetime on earth. Birds fly million miles because of discomfort. Great discoveries are made out of discomfort. Great decisions are made during moments of discomfort.  Are you facing discomfort? There is something great you can do out of it. Just ponder! Do not let discomfort leave you in perpetual discomfort. Discomfort comes next to comfort. You always must cross the bridge of discomfort to get to the city of comfort. Discomfort is simply ‘this comfort’.  Are you facing discomfort? Don’t worry, behold, thy redemption comes!

Joseph met discomfort,  but he knew it was for good. He knew it prepared him for greatness. Joseph never allowed his heart to be filled with bitterness because of what he had been through. He instead saw the essence of what he went through.

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.[a]

“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. Now hurry back to my father and say to him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay. 10 You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me—you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have. 11 I will provide for you there, because five years of famine are still to come. Otherwise you and your household and all who belong to you will become destitute.’

An old truism has it that it is only things that are close to us which can hurt us. Yes, sometimes in life, the very people we may trust become the very people who show us mistrust. We must stay positive and find the sense in the nonsense such situations portray. We must forgive others though they might be the very reasons for our discomfort!

Don’t let peoples attitude change your attitude. You are you! Wisdom can help us here. Joseph was able to understand the situation he went through and accepted it with a calm heart because of wisdom. Seek Godly wisdom!

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.   James 3

Joseph went through so many woes but he knew that it was all for good!  ‘and we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose’

PONDER:

Though situation be bad, it is also for good!

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

vs.2
Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

(Refrain)

vs.3
Perfect submission, all is at rest!
I in my Savior am happy and blessed,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
(Refrain)
