a faithful steward

prayer 2

GENESIS        46    IN     FOCUS

”31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me.”

THINK ABOUT IT

Why are you on earth?

What do you stand for?

Who smiles because of you?

Why are so many people living in discomfort around the world?

Who would be a helper to the needy?

If we fail to identify our real essence on earth, we shall live to fulfill what we are not meant to live for! If we fail to identify the real reasons why we wake up each day, we shall surely ignore why we retire each day! If we fail to identify the reasons for what we have in hand, we shall surely misuse what we have in hand! If we fail to identify the real essence of where we are today, we shall definitely abuse the essence of where we are today!

It is for  a purpose why we have possessions in abundance! It is for a purpose why so many people are suffering on earth! It is for a purpose why God honor us with wisdom! It is for a purpose why God positions us somewhere noble! It is for a purpose why we have more than we can eat today.  ‘And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him— John 9 : 3

Who shall feed they that are in need of food? The one having food in abundance! Who shall be the reason for someones smile? A comforter! Who shall speak for they that are in trouble? The one endowed with wisdom! It is for a purpose! Whatever thing you see today is for a purpose!

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.  34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Joseph understood why he was in Egypt. He was there to be a good steward! He was there to be a liberator! He was there to provide shelter and comfort! Because Joseph had been a good steward, he could boldly say to his brothers,  20 Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours.’ when he was a stranger in the land of Egypt. Where has God placed you and how are you being a good steward there today so that others shall rejoice tomorrow because  of you?

Jesus Christ knew He has friends and family somewhere on earth and so going to His Fathers throne, He went there with a vision to preparing a comfortable abode for His family and friends who shall join Him one day.  He said,

‘Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also’

Your ability to accommodate someone shall depend on the room you have available and how you have prepared it well to accommodate the person!

Jacob could go to Egypt because he had a son there who had been a good steward in the land of Egypt. Joseph could have chosen to be a prodigal  son but, he chose what was noble!

PONDER

Joseph is gone, it is our time today, what must we do?

HYMN

BY:   John Mohr

And we’re pilgrims on the journey of the narrow road
And those who’ve gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God’s sustaining grace

Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who’ve gone before us let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives

Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful

After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift through all we’ve left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find

Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey

Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
