until you have seen it

GENESIS     46      IN      FOCUS

30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”

Why did yesterday go?

Why are we seeing today?

What sorrow is controlling your heart?

Do you remember Job?

Until you see the end of your glory, you shall not die! Until you experience the real reasons why you live, you shall not die! Until the glory of God shines excellently upon you, you shall not die! But you shall by no means see what God wants to do for you until you have understand two things; endurance and humility! ‘ Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.’

‘The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.’

Jacob had been through several woes. He wandered in his youthful age and he was blessed by God. Jacob saw the disappearance of his son Joseph! Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days. 35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” So his father wept for him.  Least did he think that he would see his son Joseph again. We cannot tell the emotional pain Jacob had to go through because of  the disappearance of Joseph! It could have killed him but, Jacob accepted it with endurance and humility!

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” 10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[b] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”

It is said that if it will not kill you, it will strengthen you! Rich or poor, young or old, weak or strong, wise or not,  we shall definitely meet several trials and trying times in life. It is such trials and tempting moment that make us see men of valor and they that easily give up!  Without endurance and humility, we shall definitely not be able  to get to where God wants us to get to. We shall definitely miss our blessings when we refuse to put on the cloth of humility and endurance. We are bound to meet nerve cutting situations that shall   put our integrity to test.

Sometimes in life, we may meet small test and sometimes too,  we may meet bigger test. Our pride and our big ego shall always be a barrier to our glorious height. We may feel too big enough to do or accept certain small things which might have the capability to uplift us to glorious heights! But by the timely intervention of a servant, Naaman would have missed his healing. Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, “My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean ‘?”  So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

Pride and big ego can kill us even before we see our death! We ought to see what it takes to see a glorious end; humility and endurance! Abraham humbled himself to God. He endured great trials with patience and in the end, God glorified him. Jacob endured and in the end, he saw his missing son in glory.

We are in today because yesterday left us yesterday and though yesterday is gone, what we did yesterday shall always be with us. As yesterday is gone, so shall today go. We ought to see what tomorrow is bringing and understand how to live today. We shall see a great and a blessed tomorrow if we uphold endurance and humility today.

Though it shall always be arduous to accept  endurance and humility in unbearable situations of life, there shall be a great sigh of relief in the end after enduring the trials with humility!

Do you know what tomorrow is bringing?

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature[a] God,  did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage rather, he made himself nothing  by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,  he humbled himself  by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,  in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

All the way my Savior leads me

BY:   Fanny Jane Crosby(1820-1915)

All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well,
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see.
