EXODUS 11 IN FOCUS
Now the Lord had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely.
THINK ABOUT IT :
What has caused you a deep pain in your heart before?
What has bring an awesome joy to your heart before?
What is still controlling your heart now?
What do you think about mostly each day?
When the heart stops beating, life stops moving! The heart is undoubtedly a very important component of our body, life and living. The book of proverbs writes ‘ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.’ We can easily forget about what is on our mind but when what is on our mind takes root in our heart, then we must ponder! Deep hatred and and deep love dwells in the heart. A broken heart, is a broken body! When the heart falls sick, the body also falls sick! What did you feel when that someone caused you that great disappointment you least expected? The heart is a propeller of real massacre, revenge and conspiracy. ‘For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he‘ Proverbs 23:7 What is in your heart?
What is in our hearts drives our thought and thinking pattern greatly. We ought to know what holds our hearts and we ought to identify what our hearts are holding! David said ‘ I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.’ Psalm 119:11
We ought to clean our hearts. We ought to eliminate whatever is not worth living in our hearts from our hearts. We ought to ensure that our hearts are the best home for the best things only. We ought to mind our hearts. May our hearts be the dwelling place for Jesus Christ and the Holy spirit. It is good to Worship God with our substance and our lips ‘But the time is coming–indeed it’s here now–when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. ‘ John 4:23
What is in your heart controls what you think about each moment of time, what is in your heart? Jesus said ‘ 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: 8 ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”
So many people have chosen not to believe and trust in the Sovereign Lord God Jehovah because of what is dwelling in their hearts. So many people profess to love God with their lips but deep within their hearts is their true doubt .
Pharaoh refused to listen to Moses and Aaron. He had a hard heart! Pharaoh was convinced that he had the men who could perform the same miracles Moses and Aaron could do. There are so many people in our world today who least trust in God because of the wealth or influence they think they have or probably the free air they breath freely each second. They least believe there is a creator of the very air they breath! It would be better to trust and live according the will of God, die, go and see no God than to never trust and obey His commands, die, go and stand before His judgement throne! ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight
Pharaoh’s hard heart made his people suffer. Don’t let pride be the reason for your woes. Don’t let pride harden your heart to disobey the will of God. Don’t let a hard heart leave you in had I known. Disentangle your heart from pride and accept to do the will of God ( be it that small or great thing) in humility. Do not let the world win your heart!
4 So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. 5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again.
Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” Hebrews 3:15
What kind of Pharaoh’s life are you living today?
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
BY ISAAC WATT (1707)
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.
3 See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.
