EXODUS 14 IN FOCUS
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
We are pursuing so many things and we are being pursued by so many things. Life! The exodus of our time is not to Canaan but to Heaven. If the Israelites journeying to Canaan which was only a land full of milk and honey but without mansions not built with hands of men but Christ faced great pursuers who wouldn’t let them get to the promise land, then our journey to heaven is indeed an arduous errand. The Egyptians of our time would do all things possible to stop us from getting to the promise land (Heaven).
10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. … 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. Matthew 24
We are at war but we have a great Fighter. We have an unseen Fighter. Jehovah I AM is still alive. He fights for us everyday.” Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 2 Kings 6
Do not be afraid! Oh yes! Don’t be afraid! for God is mighty. Only trust and obey His commands. Do not use your wisdom. Do not use your strength. Only wait upon the Lord. So many people will try to use their strength to fight the battle to Heaven only to fall prey to the world 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
There seemed to be no way and no hope for the Israelites to get to their promised land. They met the sea. They saw how closer and closer the Egyptians were getting to them but 13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”. Be still and know that He is God. His mighty hand is mighty enough to deliver us from all things which pursue us.
We have a redeemer who is able to calm storms. Jesus is still alive. When He met the storm, 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Do you want to make it to Heaven? Watch out! the world can keep you! Do you want to make it to Heaven? Trust in God and do what is right! Do you want to make it to Heaven? Have faith in God! The world is a dangerous arena So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
The Egyptians of our time are strong. The Egyptians of our time are wise. The Egyptians of our time can easily stop us from getting to our promised land ( Heaven). We must stand firm ”3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; ”
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward[c] it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. 28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.
Can God do the same today?
