EXODUS 16   IN    FOCUS

15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.

What do you wish for in life?

think about it

Life comes with several opportunities each day. We meet several opportunities each day. We want opportunities each day but we miss opportunities each day. It is intriguing to see how so many people would fast and pray to have  opportunity to do something great but they miss the little steps which they  must take to take the big opportunities.

King Solomon wrote ‘

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. 11 I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.  Ecclesiastes 9

The best opportunities we want are mostly the opportunities we overlook. The Israelites cried for daily bread. They wished they were still in Egypt. God answered their prayers and send them daily bread but they were wondering what it was! Hmm what ignorance can do!

’13 That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14 When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. 15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.’

It is sad to know how so many people would love to give up on their way to a glorious home (Heaven) just because of the challenges they meet as they journey. They yearn to go back to the pleasures of the world. They yearn to have absolute freedom. Absolute freedom is however freedom in bondage.

Had it not been the intervention of Naaman’s servant, he could have missed a great opportunity.

13 Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!” 14 So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy. 2 Kings 5

”The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

God is a God who is mighty enough to make a way where there is no way. He made a way out for the Israelites to cross the red Sea but they easily forgot what God could do for them.

Why do you worry when you can pray. Why do you worry when you have  a Father who listens to your cry. Why must you worry when God is the same yesterday, today and He shall be the same tomorrow.

God answered the Israelites ”35 The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.”

Open your eyes oh ye precious one of God and see what God can do for you! Open your heart oh ye noble one of God and experience  the peace He can give to your heart. What do you need? Just pray ”And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Are yo missing opportunities?
Be alert to see to numerous opportunities passing around you. Look beyond what you look and see!!!

What can’t God do for you?

HYMN:

BY: William Williams,  Halleluiah (Bristol, England: 1745)

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
[or Guide me, O Thou great Redeemer…]
Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

Lord, I trust Thy mighty power,
Wondrous are Thy works of old;
Thou deliver’st Thine from thralldom,
Who for naught themselves had sold:
Thou didst conquer, Thou didst conquer,
Sin, and Satan and the grave,
Sin, and Satan and the grave.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of deaths, and hell’s destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.

Musing on my habitation,
Musing on my heav’nly home,
Fills my soul with holy longings:
Come, my Jesus, quickly come;
Vanity is all I see;
Lord, I long to be with Thee!
Lord, I long to be with Thee!
