The Altar of Burnt Offering

EXODUS    27    IN    FOCUS

Build an altar of acacia wood, three cubits[a] high; it is to be square, five cubits long and five cubits wide’

Oh what a happy day! Oh what a new day! Oh what a day to make known the name of the Lord of host ! Oh what a day to praise the name of Jehovah our Adonai! He is the Alpha and the Omega! He is the Lord I AM. Jehovah reigns, let the saints rejoice! Let the saints shout a big Halleluiah unto His name! He is the Lord our might! He is the Lord our comforter! He is the Lord above all lords, praise unto His name,  Halleluiah!!! Let the saints offer a living sacrifice unto our Lord! Let the saints offer their lives as an altar before His throne!

But what sacrifice does He want from us, Cain and Abel gave Him their offering of sacrifice. Abraham, gave God a sacrifice,  and it is our turn. What must we give unto God as our pleasant sacrifice that will forever please Him?

Apostle Paul said to the Romans ‘Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.’ Romans 12.
A dedicated life unto our God ! Oh yes a dedicated life unto the sovereign Lord our  King of kings. A renewed mindset for the service our Master Jesus.

God said ‘Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.’ . We must leave an offering before God. We must leave a lasting offering before God! We must give God the reasons to keep His eyes upon our lives.

Who is here to give a lifetime sacrifice to the Lord Almighty? Who is here to serve the Lord in truth and in spirit?  ‘he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.’ Isaiah 53:10.

God said ‘

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7Is it not to share your food with the hungry  and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—  when you see the naked, to clothe them,and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousnessa will go before you,and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. 9Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. 11The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. 12Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.’ Isaiah 58

God demanded a sacrifice from the Israelites. The Israelites are gone but we are here! ‘ And Abel also brought an offering–fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,’  What shall you give to God today?

May we offer a pleasing sacrifice unto the Lord! May our live’s offering be that which shall attract the favor of God and not the otherwise unto upon lives. May we give God the Abel’s offering! A sacrifice of our daily lives to His service. A sacrifice of our daily words pleasant to His ears. A sacrifice of our daily living straight in His sight! A sacrifice of our thought right before His Judgment seat. It is written 22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord. 23Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, 24because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.… Colossians 3

Jehovah reigns! May we offer Him a sacrifice! May our lives be an altar before His throne that He may always be pleased with us! Halleluiah!!!

HYMN

Words: Daniel March, 1868:

Hark, the voice of Jesus calling,
“Who will go and work today?
Fields are ripe and harvests waiting,
Who will bear the sheaves away?”
Long and loud the Master calls us,
Rich reward He offers free;
Who will answer, gladly saying,
“Here am I, send me, send me”?

If you cannot cross the ocean,
And the distant lands explore,
You can find the lost around you,
You can help them at your door;
If you cannot give your thousands,
You can give the widow’s mite;
What you truly give for Jesus,
Will be precious in His sight.

If you cannot speak like angels,
If you cannot preach like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus,
You can say He died for all.
If you cannot rouse the wicked,
With the judgment’s dread alarms,
You can lead the little children
To the Savior’s waiting arms.

If you cannot be the watchman,
Standing high on Zion’s wall,
Pointing out the path to heaven,
Offering life and peace to all,
With your prayers and with your bounties
You can do what heaven demands;
You can be like faithful Aaron,
Holding up the prophet’s hands.

If among the older people,
You may not be apt to teach,
“Feed My lambs,” said Christ, our Shepherd,
“Place the food within their reach.”
And it may be that the children
You have led with trembling hand,
Will be found among your jewels,
When you reach the better land.

Let none hear you idly saying,
“There is nothing I can do.”
While the lost of earth are dying,
And the Master calls for you;
Take the task He gives you gladly;
Let His work your pleasure be;
Answer quickly when He calls you,
“Here am I, send me, send me.”
