keep the lamps burning

EXODUS      27     IN   FOCUS

20 “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning.

How can your life go on without breathing? How can the turbines work without fuel? How can the lamps give their bright light without oil? How can that luxurious car move without fuel? How can the aircraft reach its destination without enough fuel that can take it to its final destination?  It is said that we do not use an empty stomach to blow the trumpet. You need oil to bright. You need oil! Oh yes, you need an everlasting oil to ever produce light. You need something within to bring something out. What oil is within you? Who are you?

1Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

Remember the parable of the ten virgins,

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ 12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.   Matthew 25

God demanded an unfelling oil from the Israelites and He said ‘This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.  Yes! a lasting ordinance! An oil that will produce a light which shall keep burning to the end. Where is your light? How is it shinning to produce that bright and unfailing light which pleases God? Jesus said, 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’  Matthew 5

20 “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning. 21 In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.’ God is everywhere and we must not serve Him only in the church but outside the church. We must let our lamps shine wherever!

Jesus Christ is coming again and He is not coming for darkness! He is coming for light. Oh Yes, He is coming for those whose light shine bight like the sun. He is coming for those whose light shall shine to the end! He is coming for those whose light shall never go off because of the strong wind of the world! He is coming for those with enough oil in their lamps! He is coming again! He is coming again! He said ‘ “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3

Your lamp must be alive and your light must shine, but, you need an oil! You need enough oil to keep your light shinning to the very end. You need enough oil. You need the Word of God! You must read the Word! Nothing was done without the Word! Let your light shine; get an oil that will forever let your light shine! Keep the lasting ordinance and let your light shine!  Jesus is coming again! How are you preparing to meet Him? Let your light shine! Keep your lamps burning!

Lyrics:

Music:

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.

It is safely moored, ’twill the storm withstand,
For ’tis well secured by the Savior’s hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine

It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow.
