The Priestly Garments

EXODUS      28    IN     FOCUS

Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and honor

God created man with honor and to have honor. ”Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” —Genesis 1:26. It is so intriguing to notice how people seek and yearn for honor and recognition. They would least accept anything that will bring dishonor. Everybody, all things being equal, seek to have a certain pedigree and reputation and would do all things possible to protect such reputation. Who wants to be disgraced?

It is painful to have dishonor. It is sad to live a life without dignity. It is disheartening to live a life that is not worth living. Sorrow and despair becomes ones  food for thought each moment of time. People choose to end their lives because they least see any honor and dignity in the life they live. When dignity goes down, desperations increase and hope dwindles .

We strive each day from dawn to dusk seeking for ways to live life that will enhance our reputation and dignity. We are careful in the choice of our words so as not to attract dishonor. We take steps each moment with the aim of securing a better tomorrow that will show how well we lived life. ‘The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.’ Proverbs 21: 31. We ought to seek for the honor of God and we must ask for God’s cloth of dignity. We need a new cloth. We need a cloth of honor and of dignity .” 14Then Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and they hurriedly brought him out of the dungeon; and when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came to Pharaoh.

God created us to live a life of dignity. God created us to live a life of honor. God created man to be a manager of all His creation. Apostle Paul said 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. God can provide. Oh yes! God can supply. He is the author of dignity and He is the only One who can honor without measure and dishonor. Man can seek for and find honor but such honor and dignity can only lead to dishonor and disdain. The honor of God is everlasting and  though the world would seek to attack the honor God bestows on man, God is able and capable of increasing His honor beyond the reach of the worlds treacherous ways.

God demanded a cloth of honor for Aaron. A cloth made by not just any obscure persons but skilled men endowed with wisdom.  He said ‘ Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and honor. Tell all the skilled workers to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest.’ Exodus 28.

You are not ordinary person today, But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. If God therefore could cloth Aaron with dignity and honor, He can do the same today for us too for He is the same yesterday, today and HE shall be the same tomorrow, Halleluiah!

A wonderful cloth was to be made for Aaron. A well sown gown of glory that will show a great dignity was to be made for  Aaron. God can cloth us today with a great cloth of honor and dignity. He is a faithful God and a God who glorifies. All things are possible with Him, to Him and He can do all things.

We have an assurance. An assurance from no one than our great Master Jesus Christ. The little child will rejoice over a promise from his father. We have a promise! Oh yes! Jesus gave us a promise. Whatever we need, He will supply! What a promise we have from our Master! What a hope we have! We only need to ask and believe we shall get, halleluiah!!! He said ‘ 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Look to no one for help than the Sovereign Lord God Jehovah. Turn to Him for honor! Turn to no one for comfort in your discomfort moment than to the Lord Jesus Christ. Turn the Lord our comforter. The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
Seek for God’s honor and seek for the cloth of dignity from God. The cloth to be made by angels of God. A special cloth of Honor!!! A garment that will make you different among all nations! Seek for God! Seek for His honor! He is able!!!

HYMN

Trust and Obey

  Author:  John H. Sammis (1887)

1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey
