The Kingdoms business

EXODUS    35    IN     FOCUS

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded:

More hands are needed! Oh yes, more hands are needed for the Kingdoms business. Jesus ‘said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.Matthew  9.   Daniel March, 1868, wrote :

Hark, the voice of Jesus calling,
“Who will go and work today?
Fields are ripe and harvests waiting,
Who will bear the sheaves away?”
Long and loud the Master calls us,
Rich reward He offers free;
Who will answer, gladly saying,
“Here am I, send me, send me”?

Many souls are dying! Many souls are wandering! Who will care for someone? Who will rescue the perishing? ‘ 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Enough of the talk! Let us walk the walk! Let us take up our cross and follow the footsteps of our Master! Jesus is calling, who will respond? Worldly pleasures shall continue to be worldly pleasures, but we shall die and go, and meet our Masters judgment! 27  …as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  Awake and let your heart move your body, Jesus is calling! The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few!

20 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses’ presence, 21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. 22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord. 23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or the other durable leather brought them. 24 Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the Lord, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. 25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun—blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. 26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. 27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. 28 They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. 29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the Lord freewill offerings for all the work the Lord through Moses had commanded them to do.  Exodus 35

Gold is precious and gold is valuable, but they gave their all out for the kingdoms business.  They contributed their quota, they brought their substance and they  moved their hands for a purpose! They are gone, but we are here! Let us consider the early church, ‘44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[h] daily those who were being saved.’ Who will do the kingdoms business? Who will awake in might to the call? One soul will bring joy in heaven; arise oh men of God! Mind the kingdoms business and do it well! Jesus is coming again!

Fanny Crosby, 1883. wrote:

Awake! Awake! the Master now is calling us,
Arise! Arise! And, trusting in His Word,
Go forth! Go forth! Proclaim the year of jubilee,
And take the cross, the blessèd cross of Christ our Lord.

Refrain

On, on, swell the chorus,
On, on, the morning star is shining o’er us;
On, on, while before us,
Our mighty, mighty Savior leads the way.
Glory, glory, hear the everlasting throng,
Shout “Hosanna!” while we boldly march along;
Faithful soldiers here below, only Jesus will we know;
Shouting “Free salvation!” o’er the world we go.

A cry for light from dying ones in heathen lands;
It comes, it comes across the ocean’s foam;
Then haste! Oh, haste to spread the words of truth abroad,
Forgetting not the starving poor at home, dear home.

Refrain

O Church of God, extend thy kind, maternal arms,
To save the lost on mountains dark and cold;
Reach out thy hand with loving smile to rescue them,
And bring them to the shelter of the Savior’s fold.

Refrain

Look up! Look up! The promised day is drawing near,
When all shall hail, shall hail the Savior King;
When peace and joy shall fold their wings in every clime,
And “Glory, hallelujah!” o’er the earth shall ring.

The Radiant Face of Moses

 EXODUS    34    IN     FOCUS

… he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.

We serve a living God! We serve the All powerful God! His name is the Lord our banner! His name is the  Lord our dignity! When you meet Him for a moment, you are changed forever!

”And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. And they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God saying, “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

You can’t spray a perfume on you and walk without the scent of the perfume on you! When you meet God, you meet a change! When you meet God, you meet glory! When you meet God, you meet power! Moses met God and went back a changed person! They that saw him going ordinary, saw him coming extra ordinary, and they could not look at him! You need to meet God! You need to meet the presence of the Sovereign Lord God Almighty!

Many people met Jesus Christ in person; something so many people were and are yearning for, but not all had a change! Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me. When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth.” . Someone however met Him and had a change,  But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

The same opportunities people miss; the same  opportunities people use! Moses remained humble before God and God made Moses a different person!

 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.

Moses knew how to protect the glory God shone upon him! When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face! We must know how to protect the glory of God upon our lives. We must understand what to show publicly and what to keep out of public view!

Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

When you meet God, your personality changes, but know how to carry yourself! Jesus Christ said, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” Moses hid his face from the people, and Jesus did not allow His disciples to proclaim the glory they saw to the masses though it could have endorsed His credibility! ‘ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead’

We must be diligent in our walk with God and we must know how to move with the glory of God in our daily lives! We must know what to show to men and we must understand what to keep away from the eyes of men! We must know what to say to men, probably because we may want to prove ourselves right to men, and we must get understanding of what to keep away from the ears of men! The walk with God demands wisdom! The walk with God demands diligence! Do your possible best to stay for God and when you meet Him, your face will change!!!

Strangers… you may never know

prayer 2

GENESIS    20     IN FOCUS

THINK ABOUT IT:

how do you perceive others?

why do you take advantage of others?

do you know where you may meet the person you just met?

have you ever dealt with people wrongly before?

do you know what is in the next future?

You may never know who stands in front of you. You may never know who that visitor is. You may never know how the person you just met can be of great help to you tomorrow. The teacher can become the student tomorrow and the student can become the teacher tomorrow. The child may become the mother tomorrow and the mother may become the child. The boss can become the subordinate and the subordinate can become the boss tomorrow. You may never know!!!

Abimelek had taken Abraham for granted. He never knew! Sometimes what seems so straight and right in the physical world may never be in the spirit. Hardly did Abimelek thought Abraham was a great person. We must not just deal with people wrongly just because of their appearance.

We ought to be wise. We ought to protect purpose and reasons. Abraham said Sarah was his sister for she was, for the two shall be one. He needed to protect the promise of God. ‘The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, But the naive go on, and are punished for it’ Proverbs 22:3. Have a foresight.  We must be able to know the environment in which we are and how to act in the environment. Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

Abraham never did pay evil for evil but he did good to Ablimeleks home. He prayed for them. As Christians, we may be faced with several trials, temptations and be offended by people but, we must reckon with the fact that vengeance is  the Lord’s as Paul said in Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. God will always fight for His own.

PONDER : when you do what is right God will always intercede on your behalf.

GENESIS 20

Abraham and Abimelek

20 Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar, and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.” Then Abimelek king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.

But God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”

Now Abimelek had not gone near her, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation? Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister,’ and didn’t she also say, ‘He is my brother’? I have done this with a clear conscience and clean hands.”

Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her. Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.”

Early the next morning Abimelek summoned all his officials, and when he told them all that had happened, they were very much afraid. Then Abimelek called Abraham in and said, “What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.” 10 And Abimelek asked Abraham, “What was your reason for doing this?”

11 Abraham replied, “I said to myself, ‘There is surely no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.’ 12 Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And when God had me wander from my father’s household, I said to her, ‘This is how you can show your love to me: Everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”

14 Then Abimelek brought sheep and cattle and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham, and he returned Sarah his wife to him. 15 And Abimelek said, “My land is before you; live wherever you like.”

16 To Sarah he said, “I am giving your brother a thousand shekels[a] of silver. This is to cover the offense against you before all who are with you; you are completely vindicated.”

17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again, 18 for the Lord had kept all the women in Abimelek’s household from conceiving because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.

ABRAHAM AND LOT: choices

BIBLE 4

GENESIS 13   IN FOCUS

THINK ABOUT IT:

What pleases your eyes?

Why do you choose what you choose every day?

What influences your choice?

Who decides for us?

A young man did yearn so well to own a brand new model car which provides more comfort and safety. He had money and chose to buy the car but unfortunately the car led to his death through a lorry accident.

A young lady had eagerly been waiting for an opportunity to work in the bank. Her desire was met as she had a job offer with great salary and incentives but hardly did she had time for herself. One day after work, she collapsed whilst walking towards her car. When she came to consciousness, she resigned from the long yearned for work.

Abraham had left home with Lot. They had both been successful in possession. Both of them had been blessed in livestock. An increase in shared wealth results in an increase in shared contentions. There was the need for Abraham to part company with Lot. There exist a great lesson of humility here for us to learn. Though Abraham was older than Lot, he never imposed his wish on lot but, in humility, he suggested and gave Lot the opportunity to choose that which he (Lot) prefers.

It may never matter how we may seem to be at the losing side. God will always be with us if we abide in Him

‘’The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Look around from where you are, to north and south, to east and west. All the land that you see I will give to and your offspring forever…

The land Lot chose was however with issues; Sodom and Gomorrah region.

How well do we wait on the Lord?

‘for they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength,

WHAT JESUS SAID: ‘I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. THE COST OF RESPONDING TO THE CALL… WISDOM IS SUPREME

BIBLE 4

GENESIS  12       IN FOCUS

THINK ABOUT IT:

how do you deal with people?

how do you perceive they that are called according to the will of God?

how do you judge people?

why do you judge others?

who are you?

Abraham left home with the hope of becoming the father of all nation. He was with the conviction of becoming blessed. But the journey to this was not all that easy. Leaving his fathers house at the age seventy five (75),  Abraham met famine. One could have expected that someone who had been called by God would have had it all so easy.” Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.” Genesis 12: 10

It came to the point when Abraham had to fight for himself instead of allowing God to work the way out but that was also for good. He feared being killed  by the Egyptians because of his wife Sarai. This however did not rub off the covenant between God and Abraham but it was rather a time for God to show who he is to Pharaoh.

It is quiet unfortunate that we sometimes wish to consciously or unconsciously take advantage of people called according to the purpose and will of God. It is a dangerous thing to touch people who carry God’s favor just because we think we know their weakness or we see them not to be right.

 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”

21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.                                                     2Samuel 6: 20-23

Pharaoh  met similar thing as Michal had. He touched the man called according to the will and purpose of God

As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are. 12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live. 13 Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”

14 When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman. 15 And when Pharaoh’s officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace. 16 He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.

17 But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai. 18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?” he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!” 20 Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.’

 The call of God may not all that be easy but there exist a crown of glory in the end. Christians must therefore be steadfast in their duty to the Kingdom of God.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

PONDER:   And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ROMANS 8:28

HARD WORK… GIVING IN SILENCE

BIBLE 4

MATTHEW 6     IN FOCUS

THINK ABOUT IT

How would you feel to confide in someone you trust so well only to note that your confidential story and your name is in the media?

Who do you think God is?

Who do you serve? God or man?

How should our deeds evangelize the gospel of Christ Jesus?

How do we draw the line between doing deeds in secret and letting our light shine before men?

When was the last time God did broadcast our ill doings in the sky?

 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:16

A young man in his final year at the university took a taxi and upon reaching his destination, he paid for two others who were also in the taxi and that he did out of  his few money. He least took notice of the people. Two years later upon completing the university and a national service, he was left with no other choice than to hunt for employment . The young mans search one day took him to an office and upon entering, the man in a managerial seat quickly said ‘ young man! I know you somewhere. You have paid for my transportation before, what brings you here? though young man could hardly recall the man but, as your guess might be, he had his job offer instantly

We must be good. We must be good ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. We must show mercy. We must have compassion on others but our deeds must be to the glorification of God and not men. When we assume the seat of the master, we take the glory of the master. ‘I have done this‘  ‘we have provided that for those people‘ all seeks to show how good we are but where in lies the essence in trumpeting our goodness to people for them to praise how good we are instead of showing them our works for them to praise how God has been good to them.

The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians  3: 23 -24

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

We must note that least did Jesus Christ said I have done this or that. ‘So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

He could have rightly said ‘I have healed the blind’

‘After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.’ He never took honor for himself but in all things he gave glory to His Father.

We are living in a tempting world which always seeks to push us to trumpet our deeds so us to look great in the eyes of men at the expense of glorifying God. All necessary wit is being deployed by the world to make us seem good in our own eyes. ‘No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. just to deceive mankind.

As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. [2] He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. [3] “I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. [4] All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on. Luke 21

DEPARTING FROM HOME

TAKING A STEP FROM THE PAST

GENESIS 12    IN FOCUS

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

The journey to becoming the father of all nations was an arduous one. Abraham had been asked to leave his fathers house and also to depart from all the people he knew. O how painful it might be to leave all your acquaintances.

There exist a cost and a reward for releasing ourselves for the kingdom of God.  Then Peter said to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?” And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Abraham had been promised of greatness but how was it going to be possible?

“I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.”

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  Matthew 16:24

HYMN

I hear Thy welcome voice

THE BLESSINGS OF GOD

BIBLE 4

GENESIS 9       IN FOCUS

‘Then God bless Noah and his sons, saying to them, ‘be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.’

All things creation were subjected to the authority of Adam of Eve but as disappointing as it was to the Creator, Adam and Eve could not guard their authority from the invasion of the serpent. They lost their authority, they lost the confidence bestowed  upon them by God, and they lost what could have been an everlasting and an undiluted authority.
How do we protect the confidence that people get in us? How vigilant are we for the deceptions of the world? How well do we go according to the commands of God?

It was yet another new face of earth. Flooding had swept almost all creations away leaving they that deserved to live. A command to the first creations, Adam and Eve,  ‘God bless them and said to them be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creation that moves on the ground’ was repeated to the after flooding survivors.
The multiplication and increase of mankind is a keen thing on the heart of God.

Adam and Eve did the unpardonable, they ate the forbidden fruit. Ham had done an unpardonable. He saw his father’s nakedness and just as Adam and Eve receive a punishment for doing the unpardonable, Ham also had his, ‘when Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him. So he said, “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers.
There exist a punishment for every evil we commit against God and our fellow mankind.
‘But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.’  Jesus Christ said (Matthew 5:28)

How can we protect ourselves from looking wrongly to avoid the wrath of God?
In an evil and adulterous generation where we are bombarded with nudity at every glance we take, we must be vigilant. ‘ I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.‘ Psalm 119: 11

The apostle Paul said  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’

”I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.”                       Job 31:1

CAIN AND ABEL

bible

IN FOCUS:   GENESIS  4

THINK ABOUT IT:

have you ever been denied of what you needed eagerly before?

Why do you give to others?

What do you give to others?

How do you give to others?

What is the best thing to give to others?

It is worth giving. It is worth understanding the real reasons to give. It is worth knowing what to give. It is knowing how to give. It is worth to give. It is worth to give.

‘And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,’

How would the world exist without the element of giving. Plants give oxygen freely for the survival of man. Notable men such as Martin Luther King Jnr. devoted his life for a noble cause. The Wright bothers, against all odds, did put their lives as an example for thinkers. There are so many people who has giving their wealth to champion a notable agenda for the liberation of mankind.

The Lord Jesus Christ did sacrifice His life for humanity.

Give not from your mind but from your heart. The power in giving lies in receiving.

‘Be not deceived, God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap’ Galatians 6:7

PONDER: the reason to give is to give and not to receive. He who gives to receive, receives to give

The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
